Finding Lily…
This morning after Daddy left for work and Prince and I walked which seemed like the 10th time already today. He came inside and began to play like normal. That is until he became obsessed with the plastic box under my bed used for years to store holiday decorations.
He found himself pawing at me and barking trying to figure out this mysterious box. I took it out and opened it up showing him that there was nothing to fear…and then I saw it. Leftover little black hairs.. Hairs not from Prince but rather Lily. My beloved dog who passed away several years ago. He wanted to play with Lily, to talk about life and what to expect but she was no where in sight.. only a faint distant smell left behind in this plastic box. Prince, defeated, left the box for the hallway and fell asleep. Dreaming now non the less of this other black dog with blond markings about her eyes and wondering still when she will come out to play.

Capturing Prince
I don’t have a camera that can capture my dog’s crazy excellence. How after only a month I know in the morning he wakes me up because he is scared to find the water bowl on his own but if you say, “Do you need water?” His Tongue shoots out of his mouth he jumps off the bed and runs for the kitchen waiting patiently for his water.Which is always there waiting for him but not fresh…which he of course prefers.
After, slurping up the soothing treat and allowing half of it to find it’s way to the floor he will trot back to my bed and sit waiting for me to rise and take him out… He used to punch me in the morning and once gave me a bruise on my face but now he sits and pants loudly. “HA HA HA Mommy Please take me out.”
Now Prince is asleep behind my chair waiting for me to go back to bed so we can get our much needed rest.
I don’t have a camera that can capture my dog’s crazy excellence!

Prince and Me
Today we were in Fort Greene Park having a tender mother, son moment as I bribed him with Sweet Potato and Fish treats when I caught in the corner of my eye a man seemingly taking our photo. We must have looked like quite the pair with my hair blowing messily in the wind as it begins to dread on this third day of not shampooing…and Prince.. Truly a Prince standing there majestically drooling from his mouth as crumbs fell from his lips. He would paw up at me begging for more, more.
I wish I could have that man’s third eye and see what he sees of us.
Prince and Me.

While I am on it. I love Harold Pinter’s work and only wish he was still with us for the distinct privilege of one day working with him. Alas, I will have to settle for the prospect of some open minded person putting me into one of his great plays.
